A little about the American Bulldog
The American Bulldog is a friendly, strong, breed who is devoted to their family. They demand a large amount of attention and can be wary of strange animals, meaning they benefit from socialisation and training.
AMERICAN BULLDOG HEALTH INFORMATION
Unfortunately, the American Bulldog is predisposed to a number of diseases. These include: Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (Dry Eye), Cherry Eye, Entropian, Ectropian, Distichiasis, Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (stenotic nares, elongated soft palate, tracheal hypoplasia), Shoulder Luxation, Internalised Tail, Patellar Luxation, Canine Hip Dysplasia, Ventricular Septal Defects, Urethral Prolapse, and Vaginal Hyperplasia. These dogs are extremely prone to heat stress and owners need to be diligent in assessing them for signs of this. It should also be noted that the Bulldog sometimes requires a caesarean section to deliver pups successfully.
