Coat type: Thick coat formed by two layers. The undercoat is soft and dense, with the outer coat being straight, long, harsh, and water repellent.

Coat colours: Black, white, sable, wolf-sable, brown, red.

Originally bred for: Herding reindeer.

Breed traits: Obedient, friendly, calm, independent, headstrong.

A little about the Finnish Lapphund


The Finnish Lapphund are an alert, intelligent, dog befitting their heritage of herding reindeer. Whilst this also means they love to be active, they are loyal, gentle and amiable companions who can make excellent family pets. 



The Finnish Lapphund may be predisposed to the following health conditions: Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Cataracts and Canine Hip Dysplasia.
