Originally bred for: Herding sheep, more recently trained to be an assistance dog to the blind, deaf or disabled.

A little about the Smooth Collie

 

The Smooth Collie is a highly intelligent breed, who are easily trainable and devoted to their owners. They have been utilised more recently as assistance dogs, and love new challenges and to have the company of their family. 

 

SMOOTH COLLIE HEALTH INFORMATION

Both Collies (Rough and Smooth) may be predisposed to the following conditions: Collie Eye Anomaly, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Gastric Torsion (bloat), Dermatomyositis, Demodicosis, Seizures, Microphthalmia, Canine Hip Dysplasia and Cyclic Neutropenia. It should also be noted these breeds may be sensitive to certain drugs such as Ivermectin.
